The rules for using MuniScout, in plain words.
What MuniScout is
MuniScout is an independent website run by OPERATOR_NAME (not filled in yet) (OPERATOR_LEGAL_ENTITY (not filled in yet)). It is not a government website. No city, county, school district, port or other public body runs it, reviews it or endorses it.
It collects meetings, agendas, minutes, officials and budgets that governments have already published, and puts them in one place. Sources and coverage lists what is included.
The official source controls
Every record here is a copy of something a government published, and every record links to the government's own page or document. If anything on this site differs from the government's own document, the government's document is the one that counts.
Records can be out of date. A meeting can be moved, cancelled or amended after we last checked. Open the linked source before you rely on what you read here.
Do not rely on this site for a deadline
Do not use MuniScout to meet a filing deadline, a notice deadline, a posting requirement or any other legal date. Use the government's own posting and confirm it with the clerk or secretary. We are not the official notice of any meeting, and nothing here satisfies a public-notice requirement.
Not legal advice
Nothing on this site is legal, financial, tax or professional advice, and reading it does not create any professional relationship. For advice about a matter before a government, talk to a lawyer or another qualified professional.
No warranty
MuniScout is provided as is, free of charge, with no warranty of any kind. We do not promise that it is complete, accurate, current or available, and we do not promise that any particular government, meeting or document will appear on it.
To the extent the law allows, OPERATOR_LEGAL_ENTITY (not filled in yet) is not liable for any loss that comes from using the site or from relying on a record here instead of the official source.
Using the site
Reading, linking to and quoting MuniScout is welcome. Please cite the government's own document as the source of a record. The underlying records are public: the government that published them decides how they may be reused, not us.
Please do not:
- download the site or its API in bulk, or make automated requests faster than a person reading pages;
- resell or redistribute bulk copies of the data;
- use officials' published contact details for marketing, mass mailings or any other unsolicited messages;
- copy the site in a way that presents it as a government site or as official notice;
- interfere with the site, its security or anyone else's use of it.
Rate limits may apply, and we may block requests that ignore them. If you need the data in bulk or on a schedule, write to us first — it is usually easier for both of us than scraping.

Changes to these terms
These terms can change as the site grows. The date at the top of this page says when they last changed, and the current version always lives here. Using the site after a change means the new terms apply.
